Loved by God.

* Let go of control. * Trust God. Thank God. Think about God. Talk to God. Talk about God. * It's good to suffer loss. It draws me to the Cross where God's loss is more than what anyone ever lost. * We cannot hear what the stories of the Bible are saying until we hear them as stories about ourselves.

A Christian is Unconquerable (Romans 8:26-39)

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us" (Rom 8:37).

"A Christian is an impregnable person. He is a person that never can be conquered." Richard Sibbes. The Bruised Reed. 17th Century.

** Memorize Romans 8:28, 8:31-32, 8:37-39.

1.   How aware are you of an area of weakness in your life (Rom 8:26), and of the Holy Spirit searching your heart, and being led according to the will of God (Rom 8:27)?

2.   Is there a difficult situation where you need to believe Rom 8:28? How has God worked “all things”—especially bad things—for your good?

  • Did it feel good?
  • How would God working “all things for good” express itself in your life?

3.   What does “foreknew, predestined, called, justified, glorified” mean (Rom 8:29-30)?

  • What is the ultimate “good”?
  • How has this truth helped you to overcome negative emotions?

4.   What is the common answer to each rhetorical question (Rom 8:31-35)?

  •       What would it look like practically to live as if “God is for us” (Rom 8:31)?
  •      How does the sacrifice of Jesus prove this (Rom 8:32)?

5.   What is Paul’s bold conclusion about the many potential threats (Rom 8:35-39)?

  • Which “separators” (Rom 8:35) most often threaten your senses of God’s love?
  • How can you be more than a conqueror even while facing unbearable hardship (Rom 8:37)?
