Change (Romans 6:1-14)
- If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
- What do you wish you could cut out OR add to your life forever, instantly?
- How might you answer someone who says that it is no big deal for a Christian to sin, since grace will cover it (Rom 6:1; 5:20)? [Why did Paul's Jewish opponents oppose his teaching of grace (Rom 6:15?]
- Why should Christians no longer treat sin lightly (Rom 6:2-4; Prov 26:11)? What does it mean to die to sin and be baptized into his death (Gal 5:24)?
- What does it mean to be united with Christ in his resurrection (Rom 6:5-7; Col 2:12-13; Gal 3:27; 2:20; 2 Cor 5:17)?
- Because of Christ what should no longer have mastery over us (Rom 6:8-9; 1 Cor 15:55-56)? Why not (Rom 6:10)?
- How do you "count yourselves dead to sin" (Rom 6:11-13; 2 Tim 2:22; 4:7; 1 Cor 9:24-27; Lk 9:23)? Why should you (Rom 6:14)? How can you (1 Cor 15:10; Col 1:29)?
- If we are now dead to sin and alive in Christ as Christians, why do we still struggle so much with particular besetting sins (Jer 17:9-10)?
- What can we do to fight the lingering effects of sin in our lives (Phil 2:12-13; Ps 1:1-2; 119:97; Exo 20:3-17; etc, etc.)? [How do you keep the Ten Commandments not as the Law that kills (2 Cor 3:6), but as Grace that gives life (Exo 20:2)?]
